Balanced Flue
A room sealed appliance, in which the air supply and flue gas extratction are at the same pressure. The balanced flue takes its air from outside and also discharges its combustion products outside. Most balanced flued appliances today use a fan to assist the extration of flue products from the building, allowing for greater freedom in siting as well as improving appliance efficiency. If the external flue is less than 2m from an accessible area, a flue guard will be required to prevent somone touching it and getting burnt.
